Bachelor of Science (BS) in Athletic Training
Developing interdisciplinary leaders in sports medicine, injury management and sport science.
The University of Cincinnati Athletic Training Program is nationally accredited program by the CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) and offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training through the College of Allied Health Sciences.
The Athletic Training Program promotes a comprehensive academic program which prepares the student for a professional career in athletic training. The student is educated to function in a variety of settings in athletic training, sports medicine, and allied health fields or to advance to higher education.
Students formally admitted into the Athletic Training Professional Cohort will be permitted to enroll in the advanced athletic training classes and be assigned to advanced clinical experiences. The clinical sites for the Athletic Training Program include the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Athletics NCAA Division I-A intercollegiate sports program and multiple sites in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community. Upon completion of the academic and clinical coursework the student will perform a twelve credit hour internship in an athletic training setting.
Graduates of the Athletic Training Program will be qualified to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam, state licensure granted by the Ohio OT, PT, and AT board, and the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Upon receiving BOC certification and respective state licensure, graduates will be eligible for employment at any competition level of sports as well as diverse clinical settings. The program also prepares the student for graduate studies in the areas of physical therapy, research, exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
