Minimum UC Admission Requirements for First-Year Students
The University of Cincinnati will expect that students who graduate from high school in 2008 or thereafter and who apply for admission to a baccalaureate college will have completed the following high school units:
- 4 units of college-preparatory English
- 3 units of college-preparatory mathematics
- 2 units of science (biology, chemistry, etc.)
- 2 units of social science
- 2 units of foreign language (units in the same language)
- 1 unit of fine art
- 2 additional units of college prep subjects
First-year students are those who have not enrolled for college or university courses since graduating from high school. Minimum requirements for admission consideration include graduation from an accredited secondary school with a 2.7 GPA or higher, standing in the upper sixty percent of the graduating class, minimum ACT and/or SAT scores, and completion of the above listed.
The requirements of a high school diploma may be waived for students who have completed an unusual amount of college preparatory work in the first three years of high school study.
Admission may also be granted to those who fail to meet one or more of the other criteria if there are factors in the applicant’s background that argue strongly for the student’s probable success in meeting the academic standards of the university. Some programs have specific college-preparatory unit requirements.
