ACinD Collaborative Distance Learning Program
The University of Akron and the University of Cincinnati have partnered to offer a collaborative distance learning graduate program that leads to a master’s degree in speech-language pathology. The Distance Learning Program begins in January each year. This program is currently available for students who live within a 2-3 hour radius of either Akron or Cincinnati as we are not able to support clinical practicum from greater distances.
This part-time graduate program offers on-line academic coursework delivered by 3 Ohio universities. Courses run for 8 consecutive semesters beginning January of each year. Students will participate in clinical practicum where they will be required to accumulate a minimum of 400 clock hours supervised by a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist in a variety of clinical sites including school and health care settings. It is imperative that you have the flexibility during the week days in order to complete clinical practicum requirements. The number of hours per week spent in practicum increases as you move through the program.
Students will be enrolled for the master’s degree at either the University of Akron or the University of Cincinnati. Qualified applicants will have either an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences Disorders or have completed, or are in the process of completing, the required undergraduate leveling courses.
Students must first complete a preliminary application for this program (due March 1) prior to completing and submitting the graduate program application through the graduate school. Once students complete the preliminary application, they will receive a detailed email about applying for ACinD with the graduate school. Students who do not complete and submit a preliminary application prior to the graduate application will not be considered for review for this program.
