The Coordinated Program in
Dietetics (CP) is
a 2 year intensive program, typically completed during junior and senior
year, plus one summer term. It combines the academic requirements and the
supervised practice experience needed to take the national registration
examination to become a registered dietitian. The supervised practice
experiences are the equivalent of full time work in various practice
settings (students are not paid). Interested students are encouraged to
read the CP Student Handbook.
Students who do not receive a position in the Coordinated Program can
transfer to the Food and Nutrition major and complete the Didactic Program
in Dietetics. They will then be eligible to complete a dietetic internship
upon completing their BS degree.
PORTFOLIO CAPSTONE REQUIREMENT
Completing the portfolio assignment meets requirements for both General
Education (Capstone Experience) and the Commission on Accreditation for
Dietetics Education. Details are provided during the Explore Dietetics and
Nutrition course, on the program website, or by the faculty
advisor/Coordinated Program Director.
ELECTIVES
Three
types of electives appear in the sample schedule: General Education
Electives, Management Electives, and Professional Elective.
Because
there are limited opportunities to schedule electives, and because of
potential scheduling conflicts, students are encouraged to identify early
which electives they may be interested in and when they are offered.
Some
suggested electives follow. Consult Learning Opportunities for
quarters offered and prerequisites. |
