MS in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences

Curriculum

Students in the program receive didactic and experiential training in the following areas: 

  • donor selection and collection
  • therapeutic apheresis
  • stem cell collection
  • processing
  • storage and transplant
  • histocompatibility testing
  • quality assurance
  • blood component preparation and storage
  • pretransfusion testing
  • complex red cell antibody identification
  • budget preparation; and
  • communication of scientific information. 

Required coursework also includes immunology, molecular genetics, cell biology, as well as elective courses to enhance the student’s understanding of transfusion and transplantation sciences.
