Mission
The mission of Hoxworth Blood Center is to enhance the well-being of patients in our service area by assuring a reliable and economical supply of the safest possible blood, by providing innovative hemotherapy services, and by promoting research and education programs in transfusion medicine.
The blood center provides blood and blood components to 31 tri-state area hospitals and medical centers. The center also serves as the transfusion service for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Hoxworth has active therapeutic apheresis, transplantation immunology, and cellular therapy, reference, and research functions and is, therefore, ideally suited for teaching purposes.
Students in the program have access to the libraries, computer resources, and other facilities within the College of Medicine, College of Allied Health Sciences, and the main campus.
