BS Coordinated Program in Dietetics
Admission Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Dietetics (Coordinated Program)
Students entering from high school must apply to either the BS Dietetics or BS Food & Nutrition programs, have a high school GPA of at least 2.7, and must have one of the following:
- ranked in the top 60 percent of their graduating class with an ACT of at least 21
- ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating class with an ACT of 17
- have an ACT of 22
Students must have the following units completed through their high school curriculum:
- 4 units of English
- 3 units of Math
- 3 units of Science (1 chemistry; 1 bio, physics or anatomy)
- 2 units of Social Science
- 2 units of Foreign Language
- 2 additional units
Students transferring from another college or university must meet the above requirements as well as have at least a GPA of 2.7 in all previous college work.
Students may apply to the CP when they have no more than 36 didactic course hours remaining and all 36 credit hours can be completed within the following academic year. CP applications are accepted in the last week of January each year.
Applicants will need to advise the CP Admissions Committee if they are seeking one of the 10 local supervised practice experience positions within the Greater Cincinnati area, if they are seeking one of the 10 distance supervised practice experience positions only, or if they are flexible and will accept a position within either option. Students will be advised of the decision of the CP Admissions Committee by mid-February. The program will begin in July.
Students must meet all of the following requirements to remain in the program.
- Complete all remaining coursework with a passing grade (no less than a C- in Department of Nutritional Sciences courses) by the time they start the CP
- Maintain a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 in Department of Nutritional Science courses and a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 . (Students who fail to meet these minimum requirements will be placed on probation for the following quarter. Should they fail to meet the GPA requirements following the probationary quarter, they will be dismissed from the program.)
- Complete the remaining didactic courses within the first year of the CP (no more than 36 credit hours remaining)
- Students must enroll for 4 credit hours in the summer semester during the first year of the CP. Students must enroll full time in the fall and spring semesters during the second year of the CP.
- Complete a professional portfolio. All undergraduate students (with the exception of those in the Certificate Programs) are required to complete a professional portfolio to meet the University capstone requirements.
Certificate of Supervised Practice in Dietetics (SPD)
Prospective students must have, or expect to have earned by the end of the current academic year:
- a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university
- a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 in nutrition and food science/management courses and a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0
- a signed verification statement from a CADE accredited DPD (didactic program in dietetics)
Certificate of supervised practice applications are accepted in the last week of January each year. Applicants will need to advise the CP Admissions Committee if they are seeking a local supervised practice experience position within the Greater Cincinnati area, if they are seeking a distance supervised practice experience position only, or if they are flexible and will accept a position within either option.
