Mission Statement

The mission of the Occupational Therapy Program at the University of Cincinnati is to educate students to become occupation-based clinicians capable of competently and independently evaluating, treating and/or consulting with clients of diverse cultural backgrounds in a variety of settings. In addition, it is the mission of the program to educate those who might not have access to traditional forms of higher education through a mix of distance learning technologies and face-to- face instruction. The program strives for excellence in teaching, service, scholarly activity, and leadership while supporting the professional growth of faculty and students, instilling a commitment to lifelong learning, and responding to the needs of the region that it serves.

Thank you for your interest in occupational therapy at the University of Cincinnati. We have received candidacy status from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

For those who need to complete an undergraduate degree appropriate for application to a graduate Occupational Therapy program, the on-campus Health Sciences Behavioral and Occupation Studies track (HLSC-BO) is available for freshman enrollment, transition students and transfer students.  The online version of this track (HLSC-BO-DL) is also available for enrollment and is limited to students who hold an Associates’ Degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting. These two tracks were designed to meet, or exceed, the undergraduate course requirements for application to most graduate Occupational Therapy programs; students who successfully complete one of these tracks will find that they are able to apply to UC’s program when it comes available, and also to a number of other graduate OT programs across the country.
