Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT)

Application Information

The MOT application is now available.  

Create an account on the UC Graduate School website.  On the Program Choice tab select Master of Occupational Therapy (under College of Allied Health Sciences).  **The program is not available on the "Find a Graduate Program" page.

Applications will be scored (see Admissions Scoring Criteria) and applicants ranked based upon the following criteria:

  • Overall Grade Point Average (all transcripts and courses) = 30%
  • Prerequisite Course Grade Point Average Score = 30% (based upon completed coursework) MOT Prerequisite Course Worksheet
  • Admissions Essay and Resume Score = 20%
  • Combined Supporting Materials Score (letters, GRE/NBCOT scores, observation, admissions video, etc.) = 20%

Essay Criteria (500 words maximum)

  • A statement of why you have selected occupational therapy as a career path
  • A description of previous activities and experiences that are consistent with / supportive of your career choice
  • A description of the personal attributes that you feel are most important for career success in occupational therapy
  • A description of the area(s) of occupational therapy practice that interest you most and why
  • A list and description of prior academic, service, professional, and/or athletic awards and recognitions received
  • A brief outline of your short and long range personal goals
  • A statement of the reasons for choosing the University of Cincinnati for your occupational therapy educational preparation

Accreditation Status Update

UC is currently in the Applicant Stage of accreditation (completing candidacy application – ACOTE Step 1) and, as part of that process, we're developing the curriculum, admissions standards, and other elements of the program. For additional information on accreditation, please see ACOTE’s Prospective Applicant Letter.

December 2017 - Applicants notified of acceptance status*

May 2018 - First cohort of students begin classes

​*Students cannot be accepted into the MOT program until candidacy is obtained.  UC will be informed of its candidacy status in December 2017.
