Bachelor of Science in Dietetics (Coordinated Program)

CP students at NKY Health Department

Welcome to the University of Cincinnati’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics!

The University of Cincinnati’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) includes 2 of the 3 steps to prepare you to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN):

  1. The didactic work (academic coursework) which is completed in year 1 of the CPD, and
  2. The supervised practice, which is a minimum of 1200 hours, and is completed in year 2 of the CPD.

Following successful completion of the coursework and supervised practice, you may schedule and take the Registered Dietitian exam to earn the RDN/RD credential!

In many states, RDNs will need a license or certification to practice. In the State of Ohio, with the RD credential, a background check and payment of a fee, the practitioner may receive his/her license to practice.

As noted on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) website, “Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are food and nutrition experts who have met the criteria to earn the RD credential.”  An RDN is equivalent to an RD, and vice versa. Below are several links on the AND website that may answer questions that you may have about becoming an RDN/RD.
