Rehabilitation Sciences _

Welcome Message

Welcome to the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and thank you for your interest in our programs.  The department offers an undergraduate Bachelor’s of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) and a graduate clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).  A second graduate degree, a Master’s in Occupational Therapy (MOT) will be coming to UC soon. The tentative launch date of the UC MOT program is Summer 2018.

The mission of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences is to prepare students at both the undergraduate and graduate level to be successful professionals and to provide high quality service in their chosen fields. In collaboration with community-based partners, our students acquire professional skills based in critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, cultural competence and commitments to service and leadership.  The department faculty values life-long learning, research, service, and leadership, and works to develop those values in our students.

Our department is part of the College of Allied Health Sciences and is one of the four colleges that make up the UC Academic Health Center.  The Academic Health Center is one of the most dynamic components of the University of Cincinnati.  Our relationships with colleagues in the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy provide opportunities for unique inter-professional experiences for both our undergraduate and graduate students.

We are committed to excellence and employ a student-centered approach both in and out of the classroom.  We are convinced of the value of experiential/hands-on learning and maintain a small faculty to student ratio in the active learning portions of our courses (undergraduate program ≈ 1:20, graduate programs ≈ 1:12).  Additionally, many department faculty members are involved in research projects and service initiatives; students in both our undergraduate and graduate programs can be involved in these activities as part of their pre-professional and capstone experiences.

You will find links to specific information about our department and our programs on this page.  As you read through our information, we hope you will get a true sense for our programs and the services we provide for our students.  We take great pride in our excellent faculty and in the accomplishments of our faculty, current students and alumni.

Feel free contact our department at rehabsci@ucmail.uc.edu if you have additional questions.  If you wish to arrange a meeting and tour of our facilities, please get in touch with Shelly Bellman, our Program Coordinator, at shelly.bellman@uc.edu.

Best Regards,
