Check back for information on Fall 2024 Fluency Friday program!

An intensive treatment program for children/teens who stutter.

What is Fluency Friday?

Fluency Friday is a one-day workshop for students (4rd grade through 12th grade) who stutter and their parents/caregivers. The 2023 theme is “Shoot For Your Dreams” and former University of Kentucky and NBA player Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is attending the event. Students who stutter in 3rd through 12th grades and their caregivers are invited to participate in the program.

Fluency Friday is a must-attend non-profit event for speech-language pathologists and their clients who stutter.  It provides training for speech-language pathology graduate students while giving children/adolescents who stutter the opportunity to interact with others who stutter.

Fluency Friday is a powerful program providing individuals who stutter the opportunity to learn that they are not alone in their journey with stuttering. It gives them the chance to draw support from professionals, graduate students, their families, and, especially, their peers. Most of all, it is a chance for students to come together, have fun and learn from each other.

Students who stutter participate in group therapy sessions as well as engage in team building and confidence-building activities. Parents learn from experts in the field of stuttering and participate in panel discussions.

The program was started by Diane Games over 12 years ago and has developed into a collaborative community effort with faculty from the University of Cincinnati, Hamilton County Educational Service Center, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Therapy is provided by graduate clinicians from the University of Cincinnati under the guidance of licensed speech-language pathologists who volunteer for the day earning continuing education units. Throughout the day, parents attend presentations from local and national experts in the field of stuttering and have the opportunity to ask questions.
