About
The CINCI-lab’s overarching goal is to seek out outcomes measures for voice and speech in neurologically involved patients that are efficient, effective, and readily translatable to clinical practice. We focus on ecologically valid contexts and tasks, such as spontaneous speech in conversation. We study dysarthria and intelligibility impairment caused by neurogenic communication impairments, and we collaborate across the academic health center with practicing clinicians. In HSB,
CINCI lab is equipped with up-to-date hybrid Pentax/Olympus videostroboscopy cart and Phonatory Aerodynamic System (PAS) for physiological exams. There is a sound attenuated room for voice and speech sampling and Computerized Speech Lab (CSL) for acoustic recordings and analysis. We are developing acoustic measures through a collaboration with computer science for speech analysis. A fleet of deployable recording devices is being used by our clinician-collaborators. And best of all, our student researchers are amazing!
Who can be involved
Anyone interested in clinically applicable research in motor speech disorders and outcomes measures can be involved.
